Kauai Fishing Report for July

Aloha from the beautiful Garden Island of Kauai! Here is an update for the Sport Fishing action for the month of July. The standard summer trade winds have made their presence known. We also has to deal with some larger than normal south swell which you may have heard about in the news. Those conditions kept us closed for a few days in the middle of the month. That aside, the Fishing Bite has still stayed consistent. We have had encounters with most of Hawaii’s Pelagic species. With the water temperatures slightly up, the Yellowfin Tuna bite started the month off hot. We landed several 150lbers, with one topping in at over 200lbs. On July 20th, we had one of the biggest Bull Mahi-Mahi that we have seen in a while hit the deck, weighing in at a whopping 58lbs.

As this month is coming to a close the Blue Marlin and Ono (Wahoo) bite has been on fire. We have had Ones on each of our last few trips. On July 25th we had a SCREAMER on the line. After a 2 hour fight, we landed a 561lb Blue Marlin. It is the Marlin pictured in this blog. The guests and crew we needless to say on cloud nine landing this beauty. We follow up with a 250 Blue Marlin the next morning.

So this Fishing is hot here in Kauai, Hawaii. While we are not catching on every trip, about 80% of or trips are catching some big ones!!
